About the method

Edward’s League offers the perfect balance of apparently contradictory approaches to teaching a foreign language. We seamlessly combine these opposites to achieve the best possible learning outcomes. The method places equal emphasis on natural language acquisition and traditional learning. We introduce elements of “real” English, which is authentic, personalised language used by native speakers in real-life contexts.

What makes our method so effective?

Edward’s League is demanding and challenging but achievable! When developing our methods, we keep in mind that “constant dropping wears away a stone”.

We do not believe in short-term bursts of motivation or cramming for exams. Through carefully designed language experiences, our learners are able to easily master really extensive and difficult course material, which is often beyond the ability of their peers. We make this possible by planning each lesson in detail and relying on systematic and regular repetition. The effectiveness of the method is also further enhanced by our systems of teacher training, support and monitoring.

A conventional yet innovative approach

We combine traditional methods derived from a classical approach to teaching with modern concepts such as formative assessment, the flipped classroom strategy and the inductive approach for teaching grammar.

Exam preparation with a focus on communication

Our courses prepare students for the Cambridge International Examinations and, whatever the level, focus on one clear objective - communication! It is important for students to be able to communicate confidently and effectively, and also to use correct linguistic forms and phrases.

A well-rounded method that encourages student autonomy

Every aspect of the method, every lesson and every exercise has been carefully designed and planned to help students gradually and effectively acquire new knowledge and skills. At the same time, we prioritise learners’ independence, taking into account their talents and aptitudes.

Proven solutions and exciting new features

Edward’s League contains features that have already been tried and tested in our previous methods, such as our generous Education Packs for students, clearly structured coursebooks, and a carefully designed teacher-parent communication system. Yet at the same time, we will surprise you with fresh and original ideas, appropriate to the age of our students.

Cambridge examinations

Schools that offer Edward’s League courses are often preparation centres, which means that they are authorised to prepare and register students for examinations. This gives the students the opportunity to obtain an international certificate that confirms their level of language skills.

We find that the prospect of taking an exam motivates students, as they are able to work towards a clearly defined goal. When they pass an exam and experience the sense of accomplishment that goes with that success, students become more confident and inspired to continue doing their best.

How did Edward’s League come about?

With our Teddy Eddie and Savvy Ed methods well established in several hundred language schools across Poland, we realised that there was an urgent need to provide a follow-up method. Thousands of children with excellent language skills needed an English course that was tailored to those skills and abilities. What was missing from the market was an ambitious approach that went beyond language learning. An approach that would help develop teenagers into global citizens with qualities such as self-confidence, open-mindedness, competence and teamworking skills. And so Edward’s League was born.

Who is behind it all?

The method was developed by Ola Komada and Diana Kubica, co-authors of all the methods that make up the ambitious Edu Bears educational pathway. In creating each successive level, the authors drew not only on their own extensive professional experience of working with children and young people, but also on the combined expertise of a group of Edu Bears specialists. Today, a fast-growing team of Edu Bears methodology experts is dedicated to maintaining the quality of our materials and classes taught in accredited centres, as well as supporting and inspiring the teachers who run Edward’s League courses all over Poland.
